Bob's Aunt Florence Starr

Bob lost another auntie. Aunt Florence was such a wonderful, Godly, Catholic woman. She lived on the family farm with Bob's Uncle Ken and she was a delight to be around. I loved the way she embraced life and lived it to the fullest. When she was diagnosed with Alzheimers {back in 2004}, we were devistated. Here was this vibrant, lively woman, with a memory like an elephant, now suffering from this dibilitating, mind robbing disease. But, her spirits remained upbeat and high. She may have repeated herself, and confused Bob with Ken's brother, Gary, but she never gave in to gloom and dispair that this kind of life sentence brings. She always had a smile on her face. The last time I saw her was a year and a half ago. Ken brought her to Mom & Dad's place when Lloyd got the news he didn't have long to live. She was dressed immaculately, hair in place, and a steady, upbeat attitude AND, that day was a good one for her as she remembered who we were!
I remember when we visited the farm, the girls were in their teens; she brought out all of her father's World War I things and dressed Robyn in his uniform. She loved being around children and thought nothing of taking time out for them, showing them the baby lambs and feeding them cookies and of course, Schwan's ice cream, which was always in abundance in the deep freeze!
Her funeral is Thursday and visitation is tonight, which we will attend.

Here is a bit about her life:
Florence Starr was born December 25, 1928 in Buckman Township, Minnesota to the late George and Mary (Hesch) Block. She attended District #21 country school in Buckman Township. She also attended Little Falls Community High School. Florence was united in marriage to Arnold Wisneski in 1948. Arnold died in 1970. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Starr in August 1974 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, MN. The couple made their home in Buckman Township near Royalton, Minnesota. In April, 2004 Florence moved into the Country Manor in Sartell, MN where she resided until her death. She enjoyed baking, embroidery, making quilts, playing cards, her greatest love was playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

So long, sweet Flo!
You're in a place of rest and peace
where rivers of living water flow
and God's angels surround your soul
.
