Bob and I needed a few larger items for the house, so those became our Christmas gifts to each other.
First of all, let me start by saying that our kitchen window badly needed replacing, so after Bob found the right sized window,he ended up having to scrape a bit of the wallboard to get the trim where we wanted it. Once that was done and the window was well in place, we discovered our mini blinds no longer fit. We'd had them for a while and they needed to be replaced as well, so we decided to get new blinds. We chose these Hunter Douglas fauxwood, blinds, which are beautiful - pricey, but beautiful. SO PRESENT NUMBER ONE: New blinds.
{This photo just doesn't do them justice.}
Then: with all of the drilling, scraping, and sanding, our vacuum cleaner bit the dust {literally}, when Bob accidently vacuumed up some sheetrock dust. Now, everyone knows, nothing torches a regular vacuum cleaner motor like sheetrock dust! That is why we normally use a Shop Vac for these projects. But, some of the sheetrock dust settled behind a plant stand. When the vacuum started smoking, he knew immediately what happened. :( So...off we go to Osseo Vacuum store to get an upright or canister; but they had this top-of-the-line BEAM central vac systems on sale (just $100 more than the upright we were interested in purchasing). We had always wanted central vac, SO...PRESENT NUMBER TWO: CENTRAL VAC SYSTEM.
Then, our TV needed to be replaced and decided to go a little bigger. Well, of course what happened was we went to get a 42 inch screen LCD TV and lo and behold, they had the next size bigger on sale, so we got the bigger one...46 inch screen!{Doggone how it didn't look that big in the store, but when we got it home, it was like sitting in the first row of a theatre!} SO...PRESENT NUMBER THREE: 46 inch Sony LCD TV.
We are fortunate that Bob is so skilled and crafty and was able to install all of these items, thus saving us a bunch of money on installation fees. AND...I have to thank my son-in-law Tim's best friend, Brian, who just happened to be home from Iraq at the time we got our television and knew all about electronics, then helped us set up the TV. He also saved us a bunch of money on the TV cables, etc., and even got us a fantastic deal on a BluRay player at the Best Buy {where he works when he is not being a soldier}! {Also thanks to Tim for helping us set up the TV!} God found us so many good deals, and has met all of our needs! {James 1:17 (New International Version) "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."}
I have to admit, that we really like all of our gifts and are truly thankful for them, but I can't help praying that nothing else breaks or needs replacing any time soon!
