Happy Father's Day!!

Hope all of the daddys in your family had a wonderful Father's Day. We celebrated Father's Day on Saturday with Bob's parents {about an hour's drive from us}. My mother-in-law made a fabulous pork roast dinner. My father-in-law was happy to recieve the new shirt we gave him along with some birdseed for their outdoor bird-feeders. They get so many birds of all kinds of species where they live and love to watch them right outside their front window. We celebrated Father's Day with our own family on Sunday; Robyn was here, and Karalynn, Tim and the babyes came over so we grilled steaks and veggies and enjoyed a great meal. We also enjoyed spending time with Anna and Owen. I had fun with Anna blowing bubbles and making chalk pictures out on the patio sidewalk. I loved watching her squeal over the "bubbows" {as she calls them} and watching her concentrate as she drew with chalk. Such a delight to watch them discover new things. I will post photos of the day, when I get time to download them here. Of course I cannot think of Father's Day without remembering my dad, who has been gone for 24 years now; but the memories are fresh and I miss him like he only left yesterday.Father's Day was a very important day for me and my siblings when we were growing up in our large family. My dad worked hard and was a very quiet and humble man; he was easy to look up to and respect and we honored and loved him tremendously. So when 'his day' rolled around, we made cards, saved up our hard-earned money and bought him gifts. He wasn't too fussy about what he received, so it was easy to buy him some Aqua Velva aftershave, handkerchief, a neck tie, or new belt or wallet. Mom would help us determine those little things he needed and when we went into town for our Saturday shopping; they would grocery shop and we kids would trudge down to the five and dime to see what we could get Dad. He always acted surprised and pleased to recieve our gifts and that was the joy of giving to him. He hugged each one of us as he opened our gift to him. We were thrilled to pieces that he liked our gifts. We were so blessed to have him for our father and I wish he were still here to give him a hug and maybe a little birdseed for his birdfeeder, too.

I just bet you enjoyed those babies! Glad your weekend went well. We, too, enjoy watching the birds in our backyard and spend way too much on birdseed.

{Love the new blog look, by the way.Those colors are so pretty!}

Keep your smile on straight!
