
Seeing all of the nasty weather and blizzards that people faced this past week, I was just remembering the winter storm we had when I was young. It was in March of 1965, and school was closed for two/three days; however, our farm was way off the beaten path, so the nearby roads were not plowed right away, so we didn't go to school for the entire week. The 17 to 18 foot high snowdrifts were almost as high as the telephone wires {remember those?} and made wonderful sledding hills, so we loved being out in the snow, either sledding or building forts and having snowball fights. We had enough kids in the family to make teams. I think the snow didn't melt that year until well into late April, there was so much of it! I found these old photos of that day. This is either me or my twin sister, Marcia, sliding down the large snow drift.
