On the AARPeas Thread at Two Peas Website; I posted this:
I was listening to the radio the other day, and I heard the deejays talking about toys that were recently added to the Smithsonian, They then started naming their own favorite games and toys they enjoyed that are no longer around. This got me thinking about some of the fun toys we had growing up. What are some of your favorites? Honestly, we have had so much fun answering that question!
Here are just a few of the fun things we played with besides Slinkies, Barbie Dolls, Monopoly, Sorry, Chinese Checkers, Clue, Bingo or other board games.
REMEMBWER HOOLA HOOPS?
How about Cootie Game:
Favorite Dolls:
Maybe it was Chatty Cathy -
Thanks to my sister, Jan, we got one for Christmas one year.
Or Tiny Tears:
Maybe a bride doll was your favorite:
Remember "Kissy"? I still remember the jingle for the ad for the Kissy Doll:
"Go get Kissy if you want a little kiss,
press her up like this,
you get a little kiss.
Go get Kissy if you want a little kiss,
for you she is IDEAL.
Maybe paper dolls were your thing:
Games/Crafts:
Remember when Spirographs came out?
Colorforms:
There was alway Pick Up Sticks:
Did you ever play Masterpiece?
Fun memories, huh? Go to the comment section and tell me your favorite toy.

These bring back a billion memories, Marie! Thanks for sharing and Barbie and Midge were my favorites after we passed the Corina and Betty Eve doll stage. But playing radio bingo and playing cards with Jim like crazy eights or poket with corn pellets for ante. FUN TIMES!!
Marcia
oops that's poker we played with Jim and the corn kernals for ante... not pocket.

Good memories, indeed! How about that stuffed monkey made out of men's socks from Aunt Magdeline?
All of our babydolls ended up with inked faces and naked bodies laying around!
Bev
