Let us set our gaze on the ONE who is our hope

Jesus is the one we turn to in times of trouble and discontent. When we fear for our future, our nation and our lives, HE is our moral compass, no matter what bills are passed, who is voted in or out of a political office.

I do have to share the scripture that was in my morning devotional today. This is taken from one of those "Bible Verse-A-Day" devotionals that are set years in advance. I found the timing of it most interesting...
(Gal 3:1-5 AMP)
"O you poor and silly and thoughtless and unreflecting and senseless Galatians! Who has fascinated or bewitched or cast a spell over you, unto whom--right before your very eyes--Jesus Christ (the Messiah) was openly and graphically set forth and portrayed as crucified?"

Not to take it out of context from what the apostle Paul was writing to the church in Galatia, but you have to admit, it does fit for this day.

Now before I get nasty comments or get flamed for taking a stand with God's Word, let me remind you that I am just quoting what I read in my devotional and that this is taken from HIS Word set forth for this day and not mine.

Actually, I felt the election results would turn this way, and although I am saddened for America and grieved in my spirit about where this nation wants to head, I know that God is still on the throne, Jesus is still my Lord and will never leave me nor forsake me. Some of the mightest moves of God came during political unrest and when ungodly kings were on the throne. Jesus was even born and lived during the most darkened times and his crucifixion, death and resurrection was the MOST powerful of all. Despite the earthly way of men's leadings, and political leanings, we know that HIS kingdom will have no end.

Thanks for the reminder to keep my gaze set on Jesus through this storm. How saddened and angry I was to know the outcome of the election, but I know I must keep my focus on the Captain of my faith ship...Jesus!

Thanks for the reminder to BUCK UP!

I was so upset by the election results, and your post here jerked me back into the realization that He is still my Lord and Savior.

As the Psalms say: "Why so downcast, oh my soul...put your trust in God!"

I will try to concentrate on Jesus, but I have to be honest, I am really mad about this election. I cannot imagine what can of worms will be opened with this choice.

Still fuming!

Hi Marie,

I just checked your blog page because I figured you would have something appropriate for today on it!!! It is interesting because yesterday I was listening to something, and I can't even remember for sure what it was, but that same scripture was mentioned -- not related to the elections-- but it stuck me as being fitting for the day. And now, your devotional had it. My heart was heavy last night (and today too) but I was not surprised either as I knew people were voting for "money" not morals. Once the results were announced, I prayed immediately for Mr. Obama that his eyes would be opened to the truth, he would receive salvation, and that God's plans would be fulfilled in our nation and the earth. It was strange as I watched the acceptance speech. I got such a weird feeling that people were actually looking to Obama as a "savior" of sorts. That in their own minds their trust in Him was more of a "spiritual" trust -- i don't know how to explain it the way I want to but I just had this sense that they were very blinded and seeing in him a misplaced trust -- more than a mere man who can only do what a government allows him to do --does that make sense? My heart was so grieved that they did not know to look to the One who truly is their Savior. Anyway, I know we must get busy making those inroads in prayer and clearing the rubbish out of the way!!!
